Should I use WordPress?
Yes. Here’s why.
What is it about 20-year-old WordPress that keeps it the most popular content management system around? The number of websites that run on its platform is estimated at 43% of all sites with a 63.3% market share, and the trend is growing.
Why?
WordPress websites have many advantages over sites that are built with Weebly, Wix, Squarespace, Flywheel or other drag-and-drop site editors.
The biggest difference is that WordPress is a fully-fledged free and open-sourced content management system that you control, while the others are localized website builders hosted on someone else’s servers for a fee that permit much less flexibility and customization.
If you use simple drag-and-drop builders not hosted on WordPress that offer a limited choice of templates, you could end up creating a boring cookie-cutter site that underwhelms, hampers your creativity and restricts your brand’s originality and reach.
This approach might initially be good enough. But be aware that your site will be limited and won’t grow with your needs in the long term.
So, if you needed a simple site yesterday, go for it — and then quickly move on to WordPress, as I explain in my article How to move your site to WordPress when the time is right.
